The Basic kitchen designed by Alessio Bassan for Key is constructed entirely from A1SI 304 satin finish stainless steel. This provides a seamless hygienic work area as used by professional chefs. The oversized worktop is a statement piece with an integrated sink complete with a Franke Joy Cocktail tap. To continue the minimal effect the simple doors are finished with functional full cabinet width bar shaped handles, giving a horizontal aesthetic. Hidden behind the doors are internal drawers, however, the internal fittings of the cabinets may be customised as required. Kitchen from £15,000. Tap price on request.

Design tip: The island’s plinth has been under-set to give the feel of a floating monolith. The small upstand on the worksurface edge prevents liquids running onto the floor. The appliances have been set flush into the worktop to make them all but disappear, again continuing the form’s minimalist elegance. The professional-looking tap takes centre stage further enhancing the slick industrial styling.
